Commercial Millwork in Viginia

Sixth Avenue Custom serves Virginia with custom commercial millwork and contract furniture built on trust, integrity, and quality. Our Frederick, Maryland shop sits about an hour from the Northern Virginia line, close enough to treat Tysons, Arlington, and Old Town Alexandria like a home region. We partner with the developers, hospitality groups, and design studios working both sides of Virginia’s commercial market, the corporate towers of the Dulles corridor and the historic dining rooms of Alexandria and Richmond.

Virginia asks millwork to do two different jobs well. In Northern Virginia, that means corporate lounges, office fit-outs, and hotel lobbies that have to read as premium inside the glass-and-steel towers around Tysons and National Landing. In places like Old Town Alexandria and Richmond’s Scott’s Addition, it means work that respects 18th-century rowhouses and converted industrial buildings, where the details sit close and history is part of the room. Our casework, banquette seating, and architectural millwork holds up in both. Whether the project is a James Beard-recognized restaurant on King Street, a boutique winery tasting room in Loudoun County, or an executive floor in Reston, we bring precision and quality control honed across hundreds of Virginia and East Coast projects.

Why Custom Millwork

Benefits

Choosing Sixth Avenue Custom means work that fits your space and your brand exactly. Every piece is made to order, balancing function with a finish that reads as deliberate rather than off the shelf. Our detail work produces durable, good-looking interiors that stand up to Virginia’s high-traffic commercial rooms, from coastal humidity in Hampton Roads to the bigger temperature swings inland toward the Blue Ridge.

Our Approach

White Glove Service

At Sixth Avenue Custom, our service reflects a real commitment to quality and to the client relationship. • Direct communication from design through installation
  • Quality control inspections at every stage

The Sixth Avenue Difference

Why Choose Us

Virginia commercial projects move fast, run on tight construction calendars, and demand work that performs under heavy daily use. Sixth Avenue Custom brings the craftsmanship, communication, and execution these projects need, from first shop drawing to final install.

Craftsmanship That Holds Up

Restaurant banquettes get sat on thousands of times. Corporate casework gets handled daily. Our artisans build with traditional joinery, premium hardwoods, and finishes made for the wear a busy Old Town dining room or a Tysons executive suite actually sees.

Pricing You Can Plan Around

Virginia developers and hospitality operators work on tight budgets and tighter margins. We deliver luxury-grade millwork at transparent, fixed pricing. No hidden costs, no surprise change orders, no pricing games when scope shifts.

Schedules That Respect Yours

A delayed restaurant opening costs real money. A pushed-back office fit-out throws off the whole move-in plan. We build to the schedule, flag issues early, and protect your date the way we would our own. With Northern Virginia about an hour out, we can get on site fast when a detail needs eyes.

Quality You Can Inspect

Every piece passes rigorous in-shop inspection before it leaves our Frederick shop, with photo documentation available for clients and design teams. We stand behind the work with the same accountability we have built across hundreds of Virginia and East Coast hospitality, corporate, and adaptive reuse projects.

Frequently Asked Questions

Ask Anything

We serve the whole state from our Frederick shop, with Northern Virginia as our closest and busiest region. That includes Alexandria and Old Town, Arlington (Clarendon, Ballston, Rosslyn, and National Landing), Tysons, McLean, Reston, Fairfax, Falls Church, and Loudoun County. We also handle projects in Richmond (including Scott’s Addition, Carytown, and Shockoe), Charlottesville and the surrounding wine country, and the Hampton Roads area including Virginia Beach and Norfolk. Northern Virginia sits about an hour from our shop, so we manage those projects with in-person attention and our own installation crews.

Most projects run six to sixteen weeks from initial design to final installation, depending on scope, materials, and finish complexity. Smaller commercial pieces move faster. A full restaurant or hospitality buildout naturally takes longer. Once we understand your vision and timeline, we give you a clear schedule so you know exactly what to expect at every stage.

Yes. We manage the full process, from design consultation and shop drawings through fabrication and installation. Because Northern Virginia is about an hour from our shop and the rest of the state is a straightforward drive, our own crew handles delivery and install directly, with no third-party subcontractors passing your project around. You get one point of contact and one accountable team from start to finish.

We work with a wide range of premium hardwoods, including walnut, white oak, maple, cherry, and mahogany, along with high-grade veneers, exotic species, and engineered substrates when the application calls for it. Material selection follows the design intent, durability needs, and Virginia’s climate, which runs from humid coastal summers in Hampton Roads to sharper seasonal swings in the Piedmont and Blue Ridge.

Absolutely. A large share of our projects come through architects, interior designers, and general contractors, and we collaborate closely with Virginia design firms and GCs, especially across the Northern Virginia corridor. We handle technical drawings, material samples, and coordination, and we communicate clearly so your design partner stays informed without the constant back-and-forth.

The easiest way is our contact form or a free consultation. We will talk through your vision, scope, timeline, and budget, then walk you through next steps. From there our team handles design development, material selection, fabrication, and installation, keeping you posted at every milestone.
